Fly fishing potential in the Seychelles was only discovered recently, simply because Seychellois are spoilt with big game fishing. The Mecca of fly fishing is Alphonce island, the massive sand banks are ideal. But going to Alphonce island requires some organizing, Alphonce is 700KM south west of Mahe and you will need to organize your trip well in advance. When on Mahe island before and after your trip from Alphonce you can have some fun at Aucap, Mahe, opposite the creole institute, there is a nice sand bank there, it work best when the tide is starting to move in, so plan your day.
Note – If I was at Alphonce I would not miss the opportunity to go to Aldabra, there are only 40KM apart. Couple of days there is enough.
If you are adventurous, sporting, brave and courageous by nature and love to have some great water sports, then Seychelles is surely the ideal place for you. Most visitors tends to go for the big catch, sailfish, marlin. You would be amazed to know that Seychelles is home for some of the world’s richest fishing grounds, like the red snapper, groupers, so keep bottom fishing as an option.

Starts from the second week of September to the second week of May. During this season, climate becomes tropical with calmer seas, whereas you can have clear sky for a day or two along with alternate raining during late December and January. If you are fishing according to the weather pattern, then it would certainly yield great result.
When hiring the boat they will have all the necessary equipment that you will need. What you will have to focus on are small personal things like, suntan lotions, sunglasses, maybe a hat.
