Now, it is known as the Bird International. This was done to preserve the rest of warblers in Seychelles.
In the year 1974, this beautiful island was also designated as the Special Reserve. Apart from Sea birds and endemic land birds, this site is important for the Hawksbill Turtles, as they breed here.
Earlier, Cousin Island was a place with coconut plantation. But, now it is entirely managed by the Nature Seychelles, along with re-introduction of some of the endangered species, such as Magpie Robin. For putting significant steps for ecotourism and conservation, Cousin Island has also received international awards by Conde Nast Traveler and British Airways.
