Healthy & Safety in Seychelles

When visiting the Seychelles it is advisable to have a health insurance that will cover any eventualities. Medical treatment is not free to visitor a small fee for the consultation and medications prescribed. We wish that you never have to visit the doctors during your vacations in the Seychelles.

The health system in the Seychelles is decentralised. There are government owned clinics in all district on Mahe, Praslin and La Digue as well as a number of private clinics on the two main islands and ambulance service is available on (Mahe and Praslin). Seychelles has a healthy climate being virtually free of tropical diseases.

Visitors who are suffering from a specific medical condition are advice to bring sufficient stock of medications.

Should you need treatment the following equipment are available: decompression chamber (for diving accident), MRI, city scan, X-ray.

Application of sunscreen is mandatory while taking sun bath and insect repellent may be needed as well.

In Seychelles, disease like yellow fever, Malaria and cholera are unknown. For our visitors travelling from south of the Sahara and other infected areas. Proof of vaccination against yellow fever is required. Bring along your yellow book.

Tap water is good to drink on the main islands since its chlorinated. Bottled water is widely available in most of the local shops.

All planes to Seychelles are sprayed at departure to avoid bringing unwanted disease bearing insect into the country.
