Migrant Birds

Seychelles is certainly one of the most beautiful destinations in the world. To explore this amazing destination, opt for any of the available Seychelles Holiday Package in accordance with your requirements. For bird lovers, Seychelles is a paradise. You will able to enjoy the sight of several distinct species.

If you are looking for some rich habitats of invertebrate life then simply go for Shallow seas and estuaries. Several birds are surviving over worms, crabs and shellfish. In Seychelles there are approximately 16 species of wading birds. They are annual visitors, but they never breed here.

To breed, most of these waders fly to Siberia or north of Europe. On these places, sun hardly sets along with the availability of great marshy ground as well as lake shores with ample of insects. In order to rear young ones, birds nest on ground. This will also enable them to exploit the huge explosion of food. During winters, these birds migrate to South, i.e. Seychelles for their survival. They cannot bear the harsh frozen winters.

For bird lovers, the ideal time to visit Seychelles is October or November, as these wading birds arrive during these months. Around May, these birds leave to their places. Birds who are quite young to breed, avoid the long and difficult journey to North. They prefer staying in Seychelles all year-round. Thus, you can enjoy the sight of turnstones, whimbrels and grey plovers on beaches.

Crab Plover is one such species that do not breed in Russia. This is an immensely beautiful and unique black and white bird with an amazing black bill. A few popular large waders are Curlew, Whimbrel, Crab plover, Bar-tailed Godwit, Common Greenshank, Grey Plover and Pacific Golden Plover. On the other hand, small waders are Greater Sandplover, Lesser Sandplover, Turnstone, Terek Sandpiper, Common Sandpiper, Little Stint etc.

So, what are you waiting for? Pack your bags to explore the beautiful destination of some amazing species of bird and enjoy their magical sight. Book your Seychelles Holiday package now!
