With the collective ethnic sways of the African slaves, Indian, Chinese and Arab immigrants and European settlers, a culture that is distinct from any other has emerged, and has been quite well-preserved for future generations.

The rich concoction of religions and customs is still very much discernible, and is celebrated through national events like the Creole Festival and other activities like 'Bazar Labrin', which is a sunset market fair held by the beach evey Wednesday.
